What an epic day Felt1 and I had each making our first trek up to Baldy Village on a bike; a day made the more epic by howling NE winds with gusts at times strong enough to bring my 175 lbs of bike and body almost to a stop or careening, what a day. Thanks Felt we'll do it again. I'll be looking forward to a garmin profile of our ride.:D

Oh, and did you stop at the lodge for a snack?

:rolleyes:No took a short break to replenish liquids and headed back down again off the base bucking head winds 75-80% of the way. I got hit full sideways once, almost slid both wheels out from under me, freaky feeling.
I was just looking at Felt1's post that we were going this AM and reminded we even had winds out of the west going out. Great day in any case and without commute in traffic we face after a SM Mtn ride but we'll be back there on the 15th.

Was the road closed to traffic? The Glendora Ridge Road section was closed when we last went due to snow and icy conditions.

Two weekends back and the conditions were a bit cold but still ideal for cycling--with the exception of the numerous motorcycles. I almost got hit on two separate occasions by motorcycles taking the curves fast and wide.

The road was open to the top, yes motorcycle crazies some - mostly sane, more to the gate only 2 or 3 beyond.
It was a great ride, wind? so what-great ride, great company felt1 if you find this thread wind = no matter

You are tougher than I, I never heard you complain once. Even though I will eventually complete things I like to complain the whole time. You also have a good attitude and see things like 'it is what it is, so get moving." While I see things and think everyone hates me, even the wind gods! Truthfully I think we were lucky to get off that mountain unscathed. mtnmn bought a brand new Trek 6.5 for the ride too. NICE!
