I was a couple of miles into my very breezy ride today when I noticed someone coming up on my left. As he drew even with him I made a comment about the wind, and got two responses! Looked to the side and there were two of 'em, a rather Clyde looking pilot and a definitely non-Clyde stoker. We chatted a bit, and I followed them for a couple of miles, but evidently the power of two sets of pedals exerted itself (with the same amount of aerodynamic drag regardless of number of riders). Oh well, I'm not that fast, and the scenery was nice anyway.

I've only ridden a tandem a couple of times, but I'd forego the extra engine for the reduction in input:D

Did the Tour de Cure ride in Christmas Florida last Sunday, there were a couple or so of tandems entered. One of the couples had Nav and Com gear along with everything else. Learned some time ago, some of those people can flat fly.

Tandems can be very fast. When we ride ours, many kid that she isn't working. Believe me, if she isn't, I can tell. If you're on a tendem, you're sure to have a line behind you!:D

Was that "droped" or "groped"?:p

I'm pretty sure it was not "groped!" I should be so lucky;) I just understood the term of art when someone has dropped you like a bad habit is 'droped'. And whatever term is used, I came in second place, which wouldn't be too bad except I only saw two bicycles riding yesterday and I was on one!

I remember a couple years ago on bike Florida this couple from Ohio came screaming past on a tandem. I was riding with my Uncle and we pulled in behind and drafted them. After a couple miles I got in front of them and let them draft me. I poke a pretty good hole in the wind. Ha. I think we rode together around fifty miles that day and traded off the draft. It was REALLY fast riding. It was also a blast! I think we met up on one other ride after that. I'm doing bike Florida again this year. maybe we'll meet up again. That would be great!

You are in your 70's? wow.
I have found that tandem riders are generally not kidding around.

One morning I was riding up a steep 3 mile gravel access road by myself heading to some fun single track. It was early season and I was minding my own business. Daydreaming and being solo I was in no real hurry. Somehow, out of nowhere, all of the sudden some dude on a unicycle was riding next to me. Don't know where he came from but needless to say the daydreaming ended because there was no way I was going to be passed by someone on a single tire. Took a while but I did manage to pull aways saving the last little bit of my pride.
