My dad and the owner of the shop that sponsors the team I'm on, surprised me with a new full suspension. I must say, I like full suspension alot! It's awesome doesn't bob at all, even when I stand and hammer it, it still hardly moves it's not noticable anyways. Weighs 26-27lbs.

It has mostly Shimano xt for the drivetrain with FSA cranks. I got a Deore F/d because it's cheap and performs about the same as higher end ones.
The tires I'm switching to Maxxis Crossmarks and will eventually get some American Classic wheels. The pedals are getting changed to regular Eggbeaters and I'm putting ESI grips on.

Nice bike, but what are the plans for the Salsa? That was a cool bike.

I'm gone keep it probably and make it into a cross bike. Or, sell it to get some money to upgrade the Kona.

Cut down the brakelines and steerer tube, flip the stem, and ride away clean.

False.

Holy crap.

If it doesn't bob when he rides it, it doesn't. Do you ride his bike, in the style that he rides it? No?

Saying something doesn't make it true.

If it doesn't bob when he rides it, it doesn't.

His bike bobs. Especially when he decides to "stand and hammer it."

Just the facts.

You've ridden his bike? You have the same body? You stood there and watched him ride?

If his shock is set up properly, it will bob when you "stand and hammer it", even with the propedal on.

I think the point that Pe... er, "Rutnick" is trying to make is that there is no suspension design that absolutely will not bob if you quote "hammer" on it... especially not that single pivot design on the Trek...

I don't need to have done that to know that his claim is false. It's certainly classic fanboy pap, but that does not make it true.

The only way that his bikes performs as he claims it does if if it's a hardtail, or he replaced his shock with a piece of pipe.

All FS bikes bob to some degree, especially if you "stand and hammer it."

Just the facts.

The suspension platform kona uses on their bikes, except for the new coilair is a faux bar, which means it is just a disguised single pivot. In order for it to be a four bar, the pivots closest to the dropouts have to be below the pivot. The pivot on the four deluxe is above the dropouts which makes it a faux bar. Faux Bars are considered singlepivots mainly because they share the same riding characteristics, a lot of pedal feedback, and a ton of brakejack. Platform valves hide the bobbing sensation to a degree.

My bike bobs, it isn't noticeable much because of the propedal platform on my dhx5 though any bike will bob.

Back to the topic of the bike, nice, enjoy it, and do flip the stem.

Oh I am aware any bike will bob, but "it doesn't bob at all even when I stand and hammer it" followed by "false" is about as constructive as a stick in my ass. Maybe I am tired of seeing these negative and completely devoid of any sort of intelligence replies.

Because the statement "it doesn't bob at all even when I stand and hammer it" is completely false. What is so hard to understand about that fact?

If you perceive reading factual information as "negative" and you think (I use that term VERY loosely) that it's as constructive as a "stick in your ass" then you really need to get some help.

Good luck with working through your issues.

Examples of factual statements:
* "Bicycles have two wheels"
* "Birds have wings"

Examples of non factual statements:
* "false"

Oh I understand it just fine. How is "false" constructive at all though? Better response "OP did you dial in the suspension for your weight properly because any properly tuned bike will bob when you hammer it" or he could have just saved the world some bandwidth and not replied at all with something so empty.

You shouldn't assume.

That doesn't appear to be very likely considering your posts in this thread though.

Pete is right, any suspension bike will bob, even with the shock and fork locked out.
It's still a real nice bike tho, and I'm sure you'll put it to good use.

Ask me which is more noticeable: the bob on a 14 year old's bike who hasn't broken 100lbs yet or the bob on a fat middle-aged man the bike was built for. Maybe he doesn't notice it because it's minuscule and not worth mentioning - like the genitals on the guy who would fight with a kid about nothing.

Questions are great. I ask them, I answer them. Facts are learned. Dialog is opened.

Its black or white statements that are the fluff I could do without (e.g. false, mech discs are all bad, hydro discs suck, <insert type of pedal here> all suck) :(

I never said that suspension doesn't bob, I said Runtnick has a stick up his bum.
