That's the step after snowing, and before hot.
Discuss.
with rain comes flooding. I prefer the snow.

When this stuff really starts to melt in a heavy rainstorm there will be some serious damage.
Rain or snow still make me :(

Well this thread is kind of a downer.
OT: Psimet are you going to do the race (http://www.burnhamracing.org/race.html) in South Beloit on April 6th?

I'm just north of Frunkin... they're talking 3/4 inch of rain tonight (thunderstrom now) over the 16+ inches of snow on the ground now. Should be a big mess.
Oh and this is forecast to turn to ice and rain at somepoint tonight.
But as John points out, it's a step closer to racing season and it is sort of nice to hear thunder and rain on the roof again.
I'm sure the next sound will be the sump pump.

It isn't raining here. Just checked. Evrything is wet and there is now a flood watch out. It will probably be snowing again soon.
I would love to race in South Beloit on the 6th, but I just checked and my wife is working. Unless I can talk nana into babysitting I will be a no go....unless I can find a nice spectator who can watch my son while I'm racing....
Actually I probably could bring my son to races as long as I can talk someone else into coming along....hmmmm....different dynamic than centuries.

Snow is better than rain. I got caught in a rain storm on a 32º day 15 miles from home unexpectedly. Needless to say I had nothing that was waterproof and I didn't have a dick for a week.

Rain today and melting snow means water seeping into cracks in pavement.
Temps dipping back down later this week means water that has seeped into cracks in pavement will freeze.
Ice expands.
Pothole hell continues.
The rain will be welcome when the freezing stops, however the pothole dodging will give way to orange barrel dodging.
How's that for optimism?

Randall is becoming a nightmare. Especially considering that they will have to fix it at some point. That will make my commute hell. Guess I'll just have to ride my bike then.

Randall is becoming a nightmare.
Randall is par for the course, from what I see on US-20, IL-59, 31, etc. etc. on down the line.
Worst pothole season I can recall. I think I saw a Mini Cooper disappear into a sinkhole that opened up on Big Timber, but when I went back to investigate all I heard was the pavement burping and sighing in contentment. I guess the roads need to be fed from time to time.

I'm not talking about all of Randall, but the section of autobahn between South Elgin and St Charles. Changing lanes throws up a rooster tail of rocks, pavement and debris. All of the Lexus and BMWs have slowed down to 35 through there. I end up spraying them as I fly by.
Nasty, nasty. They have tried patching it 3-4 times, but it is getting much much worse.
