I just thought I'd post a couple photos of Machak in the process of being packed in my new cardboard box.

I was very fortunate to be able to get a box with padding and even with straps to hold Machak in. In addition, I really liked how it went together. The top fitted over the bottom creating a double layer of cardboard around the edges. If you are thinking of packing your bicycle in a cardboard box, consider picking up a box like this one. This particular one was for a Trek Madone, and I got it from a LBS.

The box comfortably survived the trip to and from Australia .... 6 different airplanes, and lots of handling on and off those airplanes.

The black bags contain my empty panniers. I put the contents of the panniers into a duffel bag which worked really well. The duffel bag was easy to carry.

Another thing I did this time, different from previous times, was to use a light, open-topped, tote bag for one of my carry-ons. In it, I had my handlebar bag, and a few other items. That was incredibly easy to carry and very convenient.

My story and photos are going up in my Australian Tour thread ... which links to my website. :)
