Fallbrook Organized Ride?

I's riding with some guy today on the trail (did I mention it was windy?:D). He was talking about doing the Fallbrook ride. I think it's a century. He said he rode up Santiago Cyn and that Fallbrook can't be much worse. I told him I thought it was a big climbing ride and that Santiago was actually an ez ride compared to Fallbrook if it's as hilly as I'm thinking. I'm thinking 7500ft? Not sure, any info or tips to pass along to the guy? I didn't want to scare him but hope that he goes prepared.

There's the Fallbrook Avenue of Oaks ride.

Longest distance is a Metric Century. I might riding it with some MTB guys. The takes a lot of the same roads as the "Tour de Stone Brewery": Rice Canyon, Couser Canyon, W. Lilac, Circle R, etc.

Hey Beanz,

You should have been with us on the Butterfield Double! We did a whole climbing loop in Fallbrook just after lunch. You could climb around that area all day if you just wanted to go up and down a variety of climbs, some very steep, some not so bad.

There used to be the Guacamole Grande ride with the start/finish in Fallbrook, but there were two bad accidents one year (2004?) and after that city wouldn't grand the organizer a license to hold the event.

Ave of the OAKS is no joke. The metric century with 6500 ft of climbing is plenty for most mortals...

Oh I remember the annual guacamole ride that was held every year the day before the avacado festival. I think the crash that did it to end that ride was someone got killed riding it. Some lady was going up stage coach and couldn't unclip and fell over on her side in front of a car.

They have 6 SAG stops over 62.22 miles - seems like a well supported ride. I am thinking about it, it's on April 5th. Metric has 6,000 feet of climbing------piece of cake:eek:

i've done pretty much the same route before and it's a doozy. i want to ride it fixed this year but i doubt i could pull that off.

how similar is it to the guacamole grande course? i do that ride pretty frequently.

no idea, i don't know that course.

starts at fallbrook hs, and goes down to 395, north to rainbow, then south down rice cyn, up couser, west lilac to circle r, north 395 to west lilac again, then down to bonsall and back up into falbrook via olive hill rd. great hilly route. about 50 miles.

i guess i could have looked at the site instead of asking. the route is pretty similar.
