My Docs always seem to develop a lot of cracks on the sides where the toes start and I was wondering if anyone tried applying some proofide to them and got good results. Or maybe there's something else that I should be using. Thanks for any help.

Proofide should work fine, but you could get some beeswax-based wateproofing for less $$. Slather it on, especially on the seams, then take a hair dryer to it and watch your leather soak it up. Rub while heating. If you want it to last, repeat 2 - 3x. If the leather's already cracked, you're a little late and your Docs have a limited lifespan.

I must be old and out of touch. Doc Martens have a cycling connection?
They used to be the preferred footwear of United Front thugs and soccer hooligans. But, that was long ago and far away.

Thanks folks. No there's no cycling connection, except that they are made of leather and the brooks saddles are made of leather. And they're both of English origin.

Close enough.
