This is pushing the limits of the ridiculous, but isn't that the point?

I think a scraper bike with slick ass speaker set up would be soul shaking. I can't decide on a frame, but I have a bunch of extra money which I intend to spend frivolously on crap like this.

Discuss?

I have a semi-common hearing problem called tinnitus... basically caused by listening to music WAY to loud... 150 decibels seems like enough to leave you deaf. I'm against it, I always pictured bikes as graceful smooth cruisin' machines. 3000 dollars is also quite steep.

Clint Hasnoo has a tire that is almost flat as well.

Music is fine, loud music is okay, sharing it with the world whether they want to hear it or not is not cool.

That, plus are they all listening to different music as they head down the street?

I think that would annoy me no end.

Plus it saves money. Actually, I would be concerned with someone stealing my equipment. Where do they lock these bikes up when they aren't riding them?

i doubt they leave those bikes unattended when they park them somewhere more than likely the garage where they build them

What blog is that? I'm not sure the Times would appreciate them "borrowing" their content...

A small 2" by 2 1/2" Cody stereo with 2 small compenent speakers lets me hear the Harleys and the 18 wheelers momentarily- without missing that shout: "MISTER!! YOU DROPPED YOUR WALLET!"

The whole point of these things is how ridiculous and obnoxious they are. Annoyance and attention grubbing is exactly what I would be going for anyway! Plus, I would have to install a kill switch so as to avoid blowing people's ears out when it got too close. I wouldn't ride and blast at the same time anyway! It would be for bike events that I go to, such as the upcoming critical mass honolulu!

You might want to invest in a bullet proof vest if riding in this young lady's neighborhood.:D

Oh, as long as that's the point, and you understand that some people might get annoyed. I can see it for a CM though.

I think you could make a steady business making sound trailers. Especially using something like a Bikes to Work Trailer or Worksman Trike

It's certainly not my taste in bicycling. But I think there is a question of wether with all that weight that it is still a bicycle or more a set of wheels for your stereo.

i've been thinking about what to put in the back of my converted spincycle, i think a stereo, though not my taste either, would be a good candidate, since that pic was taken i have put a box in between the 2 back wheels for support and hauling things. and when it's not in use i am gonna keep some bricks or something in it to dampen its easy flipping abilities, but i haven't yet cuz flipping it is so fun :p

three reasons for big speakers on bikes-

1. Self Glorification
2. Political Propaganda
3. Annoyance

Who would want to haul that all the time just for some music when you could have headphones.
