Looks like you made a pretty wise choice in choosing a wife. :)
...or maybe it was just dumb luck. Either way, nice bike! :bday:

Nice looking bike, even if it doesn't have pedals. Perhaps she will give them to you on father's Day; the snow should be gone by then.

Welcome to the club but be prepared for the occasional ribbing and smart-ass remarks. Most of us smart-assers are snowbound and a bit ornery, though there may be one in San Diego who has no such excuse. Its good that you bike is only half white, because white bikes are denigrated, for some unjust reason.

Yeah, I was just gonna say, GREAT white color scheme with just that hint of yellowish-orange. It sets off the white quite nicely.

And what a birthday present!!! Maybe I'll turn fifty again. :D

Congrats on the birthday and the present. Nice bike!

Since she got all the fun of choosing it, though, you owe yourself a summer of hanging out in bike shops looking for your N+1 bike, and then next Fall you'll need a beater to ride during the winter, and then next spring....

I got to choose it. She did a good job of telling me the budget had to wait until summer:)

I'm not sure if you are luckier to have a new bike, a wife that would buy you a new bike or just the fact that you are only Fifty!! Welcome!! Many happy returns!!

Newbies are supposed to pass around any new bikes they receive so we can all take a test ride. You should immediately ride it to the nearest 50-plus'er (go west) and hand it over. It should return in a year or so.

Never fear, I have skin like a rhino. Sadly I have the good looks of one as well. It is my first road bike. I lived on my bike as a kid and it's always been my excercise of choice. I despise running. My riding is country roads mostly. It used to be 70/30 gravel pavement but has become 90/10 pavement. I got interested in pushing my mileage last year and realized the fat tires and upright position of my Giant gave me the aerodynamics of a barn door. I wanted something that would let me push past the 45 mile mark, hopefully to do a century, but also allow me to take off down the gravel. We'll see. It will be fun. Pie? Pecan please:)

Pie? Pecan please:)

With disgustingly large amounts of whipped cream on top. :D

Oh, yeah...nice bike too.

Terrierman
03-03-08, 06:36 PM
Pie? Pecan

Good choice. No whipped cream needed, just a really big glass of really cold milk. And only top quality homemade fresh pie (made with hand picked smallish pecans from the northern areas of the pecan's natural range -thus more flavorful) that has not been refrigerated, served at room temperature so the crust is still nice and flaky. Now that is a proper pie.

Hi Blanchje - Happy Birthday and welcome to the forum. That is a nice bike - and I hope your road bike riding addicts you to this whole thing as soon as possible, and that you let us all know how good you're getting at it. Oh, and by the way, those dark shapes you see ghosting around you and snarling once in a while are just Envy Coyotes. Stamp your foot on the ground hard a few times and they will scatter ~
