Thinking of picking this up instead of going with a flexy / iffy Truvativ. Although the idea of having to purchase yet another type of BB wrench annoys me and pushes the price up a bit (unless there is a DIY solution I am unaware of)

Good idea?

The tool is cheap, and it looks like the external bearing BB is here to stay for a while, so you should get some use out of it. I don't think that's a bad deal at all, given that rings are almost a buck a tooth. I'd also consider a Shimano LX crank, or the Truvativ Stylo Team GXP [$99 on sale]. I put the Race Face Deus cranks [$130 on sale] on my wife's bike, and she's pretty happy.
