I am considering doing two centurys one week apart. I want to be at top condition for the second century. Is one week enough of a taper if I take it real easy the second half of the week following the first century (assuming I ride the first century easy)? Or should I wimp out on the first century and make it a metric century? Anyone know?

Well, you're probably the best judge. It depends on your condition, what distances you have been riding regularly, and how fast you recover.
If a century is not a big deal for you, you can probably ride the full 100 on the first, at a reduced pace, and be fine for the second. If you're not sure go with the metric (and still don't hit it too hard)... either way you don't want to have to taper too much.

I have been averaging a little less than I hoped for but (about 135 to 150 miles a week, hope to work up to 200 in the next month) 100 miles is still not that big a deal to me so I think I will go for the gusto (albeit a slower gusto than I might otherwise do without a second century going on). Thanks for the reply.
