Background: In early November I was jumping down off of the deck of a moving truck (sitting still) and woke up the next day with a very sore knee. Tried resting it and every time I went to exercise it would hurt. Kept increasing the rest periods to over two weeks and every time I tried to ride it would hurt.

Finally went in for an MRI and diagnosis torn meniscus, bakers cyst, possible ACL problem. First doctor said to operate. 2nd doc (White Sox team physician) said flap tear and no other problems. He said I could ski on it with minimal chance of adding to the injury. Planned on getting it operated on when I got back from skiing.

Now
I am sitting at the airport after my skiing vacation (4 days Lake Tahoe). I am an expert/extreme skier and I took one groomed run and then into the Chutes at Mt. Rose on day 1. My knee felt great and had only moderate pain late in the trip, no significant swelling.

So ... I will try to commute to work tomorrow and I expect that I won't have to go under the knife. If my knee can handle serious skiing it should have no problem with the bike. I am way excited.

Now, to work off the 10 freaking fat lazy-boy pounds I put on and try to get into some kind of shape before all you guys kick my arse.

Tahoe is having some awesome snow this year. Bring back any pics?
So are you planning on doing any racing this year? Glad the knee is feeling better, cause surgery would suck just as spring is starting.

Good to hear about the good news. My left knee has been clicking on every downstroke for the past few months with no pain. maybe I should get that checked out.

Thanks guys. Sorry no picks. I hope to race if I can get back in decent shape. The clicking is almost assuredly a problem but if it doesn't bother you ... ignore it.
