Weather was beautiful here in North Carolina today, I had a new Brooks saddle to break-in, so... I went for a little ride.

There's this little valley on the way to the airport that always taunted me. It's just off one of my regular routes, and I always wondered how bad it would be to climb back out of. Well, I decided I'd veer from my regular route today and tackle the hill. The hill wasn't bad at all, coming or going. Turns out they look worse than they are. Never even dropped into the granny gear, so I was pretty proud of myself.

What was bad was the wind. I had a strong headwind going that just about stopped me in my tracks at times. Coming back was great!:D

Anyway, it was a short ride, just 8 miles round trip.

I did manage to take a few photos...

I'm not mad... just had the sun in my eyes. I didn't feel that tired, but my face sure was red!

All in all a nice spring ride in 72 degree weather. :D

I'm trying to imagine what the FBI guy thought of the terrorist scoping out the local airport, but then taking mostly pictures of his own bicycle :)

This is a sleepy little airport in a sleepy little community. No commercial traffic here. However... I did have that same thought when I was leaving the airport and was shadowed briefly by two unmarked state troopers.

hmmm...

When I was in Cleveland last year, one morning I rode into a "security only" lot at the lakeside airport, not realizing I shouldn't have been there. Once I realized I'd breached 'security', I pedaled out of there as fast as possible.

I'm very jealous right now with freezing rain, sleet then 6 inches of snow on the ground today......:(

Damn Tom, you folks are getting a fair share of snow this year. My backyard has gone a whole 3 days without being underwater so it had to rain today and take care of that issue. We got about 1 1/2" and some nasty wind. Suppose to be nice until Saturday then more rain.

That saddle looks great with the bike OO.

Wish I could've gotten back out again today in between some of this rain and wind. Oh well... maybe it will be nice again Friday.

I'm not complaining, though! There isn't a single week in the year down here when you can't find at least one good day to ride.

We have the same helmet!

Cool on the ride, I love the bike. I rode 14 miles today but I didn't have wind and only one small hill. But yesterday we had some 35mph gust. Makes for a good workout.
