Hi, I would like your assistance in picking out a headset for my 1st build.
The frame is a 2008 Motobecane 600ht (http://bikeisland.com/cgi-bin/BKTK_STOR20.cgi?Action=Details&ProdID=582)

The fork is going to be a RockShox Tora 318 U-Turn Suspension Fork (http://www.rei.com/product/751101)

The Steer tube diameter 1-1/8 inches for all so I know they are compatible. I would like to know what would be a better headset?
HD4541: FSA Orbit X 1-1/8'' Threadless headset (http://bikeisland.com/cgi-bin/BKTK_STOR20.cgi?Action=Details&ProdID=679)

Also on the frame it says it uses an English Threaded Headset Integrated

If the frame has an integrated headset, it will come with a headset.
thanks, i was kind of confused. Do most low-end frames come with integrated headsets? Can you replace the headset with a after market one?

Why would you build this? If you're using Motobecane frames anyway, you might as well use bikesdirect.com
because I work at REI and I can get most of the parts 50% off. The main reason is because I want to learn how to build the bike myself.

That, to me, is a worthy goal. I built two bikes from frames last year (my first two.) I enjoyed the process and learned a lot. It was a bit expensive, but worth it to me. If I had a 50% discount it REALLY would have been enjoyable!

you came to the right place. everyone here is very friendly and always willing to help. there are very knowledgeable people here from all walks of life.
you will derive great satisfaction in riding what you build. i highly suggest you lace your own wheels as well. you do not need any real expensive stuff to do it. all the info is online for you to be successful.
good luck. ask away....

Interesting build; be sure to keep us posted as it progresses.

I took a quick look and that is difficult to determine from the ad that appears like it was written by someone with ADD (or at least doesn't know how to use puncutation). The ad appears to say "integrated headset ready" which would imply that it does not come with a headset.
I also found it weird that the banner at the top says free shipping, the ad says the frame is $95 plus shipping, and the price is listed as $120. That's the most expensive free shipping I've ever encountered.

And I'm full of piss and vinegar....before it used to be just vinegar.

Is that what you're full of?
Is that what you're full of?
Now...yes.
But when I was in NC visiting you guys, it was generally whatever you scraped off of the road and threw on the fire.
thanks for all the help... I'm still in the research phase and learning lots. I saw the "free" shipping a bit expensive too. But the frame is still cheap or at least I think so. I'm going to do my best to take off all the badges, if I can't or it doesn't look right I'm going to have it powder coated.
I would mention the discrepancy...you may be able to get it cheaper.

I've dealt with them before, and they were pretty good with me. Talk about the discrepancy and ask about the headset. They'll get back to you.
