Commuting - Oh man what a commute

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Boy any fellow Puget Sound people go out and play in the weather tonight. That had to be one of the windiest commutes I have done. And of course no tail wind for this dude. All in the face I swear once I wasn't making any headway just spinning gears. I don't know how many times almost got blown of the cycle, the worst was when I crossed the Fremont bridge. But it's twice (maybe more) the workout for the same price :)

I here ya,that was about the worst wind I have had to commute in.
It felt as if I wasn't going anywhere most of the time and I was wishing for some lower gearing going up finn hill. At least it wasn't raining.

We've had two days of wind here in the Tarheel state as well. Certainly not on the scale that you experienced, but windy just the same.

Down here in Georgia, we refer to the wind as "Florida Hills".

I had similar conditions to finish last Sunday's century. I actually find a solid headwind to be quite liberating. You reach that point where you forget about everything else and just ride for the sheer sake of riding. That is the definition of freedom.

It's windy down here in Portland too, but the thing I noticed was the warmth! Yesterday I was in a turtleneck, today I left in the dark and ended up sweating - riding downhill! The wind was straight in my face, I hope it stays strong to blow me home from work.
By the way, one thing about high wind and weather fronts in general: the sunrise is just a little more beautiful.

No joke! Even though I was getting clobbered by the wind, I had to stop and take my jacket off because of the warmth. What's up with that?
More power to you guys! I'm a pretty dedicated commuter, doing wind and rain earlier this week, but Thursday morning the wind was too crazy so I drove in. It was also pouring rain taboot. Made for a short week of commuting as I had to drive in today as well due to need to meet up with my parents who are in town from sunny AZ.

Yeah the warmth was a surprise and its supposed to be almost 70 today. Tuesday I was in my winter gear it was so dang cold out. Be glad we are not up in Skagit or Whatcom county just talked to a freind up there it looks like she is going to be stuck at home for the weekend Hwy 9 is closed in 2 places cutting here off because of water on the road way. This is pretty early for this kind of rain I hope it is not a sign of things to come (though after 4 years of not enough rain I guess we need it.)

i have little choice these days they car is down until I can afford a pretty expensive repair job. Looks like after Christmas (or cancel my vacation, NOT!) And it would take way to long to do the bus thing all the way from Everett to Lake Union.
