2004 PINARELLO DOGMA EGO
It's priced at (US)$16,500

Funny... I met a dealer going to Interbike to get one, and he said he's selling it for $12,500. What's with the disparity with the price on this bike?

Wow, that's like getting 25% off, it's almost like a clearance price :)
Do they come framed, so I can hang it up on the wall? 'Cause I sure wouldn't ride a $10K+ (white) bike on the street...

I could afford the bike, it's the divorce settlement that would break me!!

I could afford it. I'd lose 30 more pounds with the lack of food, and the dog, cat and my wife would all leave me to go somewhere with heat and indoor plumbing, but I could afford it.
OK, I'll be the first man and admit that I can not afford it :(
Wow!!! that is one terrific looking bike though.
Don`t think I would care to purchase one though, every one-a-be roadie would want to leave you in their dust when they spot someone on that machine..
Rather sarcasticly I thought when I read the article from Interbike regarding the Pinn`i, they suggested that if you could not afford this then perhaps the new model from Felt would suit you at $15,900.....

I noticed the name is "Ego". That about covers it.

it looks like a dalmatian. woof.
That thing looks like an albino bike. Maybe if they paid me $15000 I would ride it.

what is sad is that 16,500 is what my salary is here in graduate school so maybe if I save every penny by the time I graduate (4 years left) I could buy one

i think the term "afford" means you are able to buy and eat.

To answer the question about how can he sell it so cheap: Quite often at Interbike manufacturers give "show discounts" to get their product into the stores. These often are 20, 25 or sometimes as much as 30% off regular pricing. Most of the time though you have to meet a certain minimum order to qualify for the extra discount. So, if he is a regular dealer for these bikes, that is how he is able to sell so cheaply.
(I must add, that I was not at Interbike this year, so don't know for certain this is the correct answer. But past experience says it probably is.)
The reason for the Albino look is the entire bike is
made with white carbon fibre. There was a good write
up about it in Velonews (current issue with Heras on cover). Bianchi also has a white carbon fibre bike.
The article states that it looks silvery when seen not
the white of the pictures.

the comment about the felt: it would be 15000 less than the pinarello
I think I'd be inclined to break about every legal, moral and ethical rule to get that bike! :D ;)
It looks like a beauty...

Wait, I change my answer. I'd have to sell my car and all of my bikes to afford that one. The hunger and outdoor plumbing I can handle, but not my car and current fleet of rides.

15,000...lets put this into perspective, its more than what my car is worth, I could think of at least 4 or 5 really great bikes for that price and I can by groceries for a year for that price. In the bigger picture, 15k is not that much money, but for a bike!? I have two bikes that are really great rides! As it is I think many of today's bikes are overpriced for the sake of being more expensive fashion bikes...nice to look at but certainly not worth the price tag.

I'm with Koffee. . . that bike is sexy!
I would love to have this bike. My greatest fear is that I'll be riding and get hit, or I'll be in a race and fall and all these riders will be riding over me like cycling roadkill, and I'll be stuck with a hunk of $13,000 metal. I would be absolutely catatonic...

I understand the mark-up on bikes is quite high. The $16000 figure is probably list and the $12,500 could be factory cost.
I'll be the guy riding around with the sticker that says "My other bike is a 2004 PINARELLO DOGMA EGO"
:D

If I could somehow convince my parents that this bike is better than my freshman year of college then yes. Otherwise, definitely not. It looks absolutely beautiful though, such nice curves.

Well, if it's the factory cost, then this Pinarello dealer is selling it AT COST for no profit. I doubt it seriously.

If MSRP is 16K and that bike has the same mark-up as any other bike, dealer cost is around 10.5K...selling it for 12K gets ya a cool 1.5k profit and a very satisfied customer that saved 4K and gets your shop lots of exposure while it sitting in you showroom.

...a bike like that would certainly make up for a small penis.
