Basically I took AZ's spinbike design and added bumpers. The result? Bumper cars that you can ride anywhere. These are brutal and an absolute hit. I presented them at the Corinbank festival where I am in New South Wales but I hope to turn it into a legitimate festival event. We've already started to think up sports you can play: Last one bumped out of a circle, hockey with a shopping cart puck, etc etc.

Did you make all of these? Is any one design better than the others? They all look like a blast to ride.

Rad! The possibilities for injuring yourself while laughing hysterically are endless. Nice work.

Great idea! Every fair in Mexico and half the small fairs in the US. will want them. They look fun.

Or use them as the focus for corporate teamwork training. ;)

thats been on my to-do list forever good job, i love the tires for bumpers, very staight forward is ther any difference what-so-ever between AZ's spintrike and these besides the bumpers? my spintrike was impossible to ride for anydistance without spinning too much to get where i was goin, very frustrating! i have a fenced in area of cement right down my road that is perfect

the dark green one looks like it takes some height!
i love how the principle to this bike is to bludgeon the other person to death with the momentum of your own bodyweight!

I made them all and they are the result of some deliberate experimentation. The yellow one rides best- the small wheel gives you more clearance and torque, and you need lots of room around the bumper to be able to counter the spins.

They are built for four different heights of people so everyone could ride.

You can make the bike favor a straight line by a) more rake in the head tube, b) castering the front wheel (like in the green one), or c) tilting the rear casters slightly back. But this has the effect of giving the bike a top speed, when the casters hit the death-wobble point. But yeah, you aren't going anywhere on these. They're almost exactly AZ's design.

you mean castering as in giving it a way reverse rake?

my problem with spintrikes is they throw the riders head around, i think they need headrests to make it easier to keep te riders head upright, one of the reson i removed the caster wheels and put real wheels on mine

I'm giving the yellow one style points for having matching seat and back, too :p .

Style definitely counts!

Excellent! And with oil @ $104.46 right now (Bloomberg); you might sell a million!

would be nice if bigwheel style wheels(with the crank right on the hub) with freewheels in the hub were easier to come by, they would be perfect for these.

beautiful,

how are they on tipping towards the front. Looks like they might be able to use some caster at the front corners too. And what about a seat belt to to hold the driver back so as to prevent crotch contusions?

los buenos

crotch contusions are 3/4 the fun!

los buenos

the other 1/4 is trying to ram your freinds in such a way to give them crotch contusions!

I'd imagine that mangled fingers also play an prominent role.

I saw a "green machine (http://www.huffy.com/greenmachine/products/greenmachine.html)" at the flea market the other day, it has a unicycle / bigwheel drive system. And they still make them apparently.

I now know the true meaning of love... I can picture myself and a few buddies riding around like idiots bumping each other..... I like your idea of bump sumo!
