Here is another ride I hope people will consider putting on their list of fun rides to do this year. The Juniper Flat Volunteer Fire Dept will be doing the Blazing Pedals Ride again this year on May 31st. There will be 20, 42 and 70 mile rides. The 20 miles is mostly flat, the 42 and 70 miles have some climbing. This is a beautiful ride through farm and ranch country, then 8 miles along the Deschutes River and more farm and ranch. We will have 2 rest areas and lots of SAG support. Dogbait, you put the best pictures on here last year, can I use them this year? Hope to see lots of riders here!

These photos were taken the week before Memorial Day, 2005. If we're lucky, the weather will be as nice this year.
Oh boy, I think I can do this ride this time :D .
Do you have a website set up, and do you know how much it's going to cost?
East Hill
The ride costs $35, we have put it on ORbike.com, and you can register on-line, if that is helpful. We don't have a website, but Dogbaits pictures (Thank you!) show you the beauty of down the river and White River Falls State Park, and the rest of the ride is just as nice. One of our rest areas is at the White River Falls State Park, so you get a chance to walk around and look at the falls, and the big plus-there is running water and real restrooms!
This could be my birthday ride :D . Thanks for the update on where to find it and register.

That's a great area for a bike ride! My husband and I were there over the summer on our motorcycles and it was just gorgeous, although HOT in July! Pack lots of water and food though. Pickings were slim! The roads are in great shape and there's so much to look at, everywhere is just pretty and amazing.
It is a great place to bike, and we will have 2 well stocked rest areas and SAG support. The well stocked rest areas will have HOMEMADE cookies, apples, bananas, carmel, peanut butter, bagels, water and powdered Gatorade.
Don't miss this ride! I attended last year from Alaska and would love to do it again. Well organized, beautiful country, and lots of fun!
Lynn, I checked Maupin out on the Web, what a pretty area! I would love to come down but we'll have to see what my finances will allow. If I can't make it, have a great time!
Wife and I may try and do that one. We're going to do the Croc ride from Pendleton memorial day weekend. If that goes ok, we'll be there.
Hi Belzora, we'll miss you this year! 1bluetrek and knobster, I hope we'll get to see you!
This sounds like just the kind of ride for me but I would be coming from quite a distance and was wondering what Maupin has available for places to stay? Don't mind a tent as long as there are showers but would prefer a hotel.
This is an excellant ride that could use some support. I did this last year and enjoyed it so much that I rode parts of it again the next day.
There is camping all along the Deschutes, that said it is very popular fishing and floating country. Last year I stayed at the Imperial River Co., a little high end, but I was pretty clueless and needed some central point to connect with my brother from Bend. Last year there was a whole town yard sale and a bunch of other stuff going on.
Mercedes, the Imperial River Co is always a nice choice, another one is River Run, it is a smaller inn, still down by the river and the Stone Bridge restaurant is walking distance from both of these places. The city park has nice showers, that even if you stay at a campground somewhere else along the river you are welcome to use the showers.
Pyeyo, are you going to make it again this year? Hope to see you both here!
Lynn, sounds like there are some great choices to stay. Thanks for the reply and will look forward to seeing you soon.
Shamefully putting this thread back up the line. The weather is looking to be a very nice, mostly sunny high of 77 degrees on Sat the 31st for this ride, if that stays true, this will be a beautiful ride. Hope some of you can make it!
So how was the ride? Post pictures if you can!! I'd love to see them. This area just looks so beautiful, I hope to ride there some day.
