I'm planning on biking basically from Boston to Albany, which means going straight across Massachusetts. Does anybody have a route, or roads that they have used for this trip before? recommendations? stories? Especially need advice with central and western ma.

1. You can take the commuter train (off peak ) to Worcester.
2. Get the Rubels bike maps.
3. Rt.20 goes from flat to hilly to rolling.
4. Check out the Norwottuck rail trail from the Belchertown border to NHampton.
I live in Springfield and rode from here to the Cape. Have some cue sheets but basiclly stayed with the Rubels maps. If you come this way you could camp in my yard. contact me directly thru my e-mail address.

++ to the Rubel's maps. They mark off which roads are preferred for cycling, and which are more dangerous. Get the plastic ones if you can find them, the paper ones get grungy really quick.
Rubel's also marks where some of the ice cream shops are... +++++++
