There's many a clump with golden blooms ready to open in Black Diamond! Another day or two... the green is just about at that most stunningly electric phase, tree buds are swelling, humming birds chirping... soon the swallows will be back.

Winter habits, heh, I ate at least three bugs today.

My knees hurt a bit - haven't sorted out the fit on my road bike yet, and yesterday noticed that hitting a bump at the top of the downstroke brings a stab of pain, so, today the mtn bike t' Black Diamond! Oh, it felt soo good! Having all those gears, immediately, makes a difference as well as the suspension and dialed in fit.

Stewartsville is in good shape up to just past the drive in camp. From there, up Oiler, which is in very nice shape; the first saddle, just after the grove of trees, isn't too bad at all, but the last stretch up to the second saddle, where the power lines are, is kinda cuppy, but not as bad as last year. Star Mine is in fabulous shape! ...and the sand pile is still wet and packed in, what hasn't washed away entirely - it's my "new favourite," at least until the blading gets done. The right side of Old Homestead is o.k. up to the first pond (darkness approacheth), on the way up, but a bit rough coming down; the Four Bulls are up there, watch out!

Only got in twenny miles, but I leaked more sodium, that's sure.

The Myata may get dusty for a while now... ...but, thanks to her, I'm "ahead" of last year - threshold is significantly higher!

I can just feel the hay fever coming on reading about those blooming poppies! Let's pick a day to do an MTB ride at BDM.

Yesterday the poppies were poppin'! They are at their peak on the slopes of Black Diamond - most clumps have a few dropped petals now; the lil white, blue, lavendar, yellow flowers are happening as well. The annual grasses have lost the lush green blush of young Spring.

Heard from M&R (who lead the Deltal Peddlers Wednesday night BDM rides...)that the Pittsburg side has been bladed already; I will check that out, and if so, will then suggest an outing the 29th or 30th.

The Antioch side has some very rough spots, and the sections that are in o.k. shape wouldn't be much fun on a hardtail, methinks.

Yup, yesterday was a nice day; haven't felt like riding much for, oh, the last week or so, but after reading Taxi's Chapter One, cuddled up in my bed, hot tears and all, felt better.

Thanks for that.

Although I've only met one of you BF'ers in "real life," I do feel part of a community, and that is nice.
