Road Cycling - Which would you pick?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am ordering a build kit that comes with Shimano 540 wheels, but for 180.00 more I can get Ksyrium Elites or for 220.00 more can get Bontrager Race X Lites.
For me, beauty goes to Ksyrium, the way they write KSYRIUM on the rim is really cool. Weight factor goes to Race X Lites by quite a long ways. I am not doing any race but I do like quality bikes anyway.
I have the Bontrager X-Lite wheels and am very pleased with these wheels. They are a tough wheel for as light as they are.

most recent review i read said the x lites were better wheels (lighter, more comfortable without being flexy) than the fancy ksyriums, so i'd assume they're even mo better than the elites. i'd go with the 'tragers.

Depending on your size and style of riding, you might want to consider the Bontrager Race X Lite Aeros. They are reportedly stronger than the X Lites, especially for large type fellows, i.e., clydesdales.

get the ksyruims. They are certainly better then the 540s, whcih are really heavy, and with all the weight at the rim. the bontragers seem like decent wheels, but they have that low spoke count that would make them hard to true if they ever went out of true.

actually, i meant lighter. the trager x lites are 650/870 (according to bontrager), while the elites are 780/965, 690/840 for the ssc/sl's (according to mavic, anyway). but either way, that particular review said that b/c the mavics use aluminium spokes, they're a much harsher ride. that, and the fact that imo the elites don't look AS cool as the ssc-sl's leads me to the tragers.
