Road Bike Racing - Sea Otter *****iz!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just signed up for the Road Races at Sea Otter and I'm pretty excited. Who else is going?

Possibly, I went last year and enjoyed it. Just hope it doesn't rain to much.

That sucking sound is the money leaving your wallet. Did it twice, after the last experience where I was left bleeding on the pavement for 20+ minutes (I ended up riding myself to medical) I swore I would never go back.
Expensive, BS parking, crappy gift bag, zero answers to emails if you have a reg issue. Give me your money. Go away.
That being said, riding the race course is an absolute blast. Road race sucks though.
Pretty much my whole team is going
Edit: what is "*****iz" supposed to mean?
uc berkeley RR/Crit have been rescheduled to that weekend, if it affects anyone (esamuli?)

I'm leaning heavily towards racing Cal at the moment. Much cheaper and its a good road race. Not a big fan of the crit though.

What! Thats one of the best crits. IMHO. Marshaling it is a biatch on the other hand. "Oh look a pack coming down, I think I cross right in front of it."

At Merco last weekend one of the Merced Explorers marshalling the course let some dude amble across the street seconds ahead of the Horner, Holloway, etc, breakaway.
Edit: I may do the Cal crit. I go to Cal but have yet to race a collegiate race.

I'll probably go to Sea Otter this year.
Luckily, I can literally wake up and ride 5 miles from my house to course, so no need to worry about parking, hotels, or finding a place for pancakes for breakfast.

I've raced there the last 2 years. I love the courses, but
1) Entry fees are pretty steep
2) Prizes are not great
3) The results take forever to post, and have been far from accurate You'd think with chip timing they'd be able to get accurate results out within a few minutes, but the last 2 years it took 2-3 hours after the race to get the results.
I would still do it though, just because the courses suit me.
Unfortunately I'll be out of town, so I'll miss it this year.

A lot of people really like that crit. It just doesn't suit me very well. Besides, there's something about a 70 lap crit that makes me feel like I'm in a washing machine.
