Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

They just did a very brief live report from the scene of a hit and run on a bicyclist. One of the three questions asked of the reporter was, and I quote. "Was there a bike path or a sidewalk in the area?".
What it sounded like to me, they were implying that the bicyclist wasn't supposed to be on the road? That's the mentality here I guess. They probably didn't know you're not supposed to ride on the sidewalk, though many do it. I just watched the report, shaking my head.,,,,BD

They just did a follow up blurb. They said...."He may have just been trying to cross the street." Not sure what to make of that, but at least they backed off the original "The cyclist Shouldn't have been on the road" reporting style.,,,,BD

Last night in Boise, Idaho a woman ploughed into a police motorcycle that had stopped a motorist. The motorcycle's police lights were all "on" and flashing. The officer was taken to the hospital and is in fair condition. It seems plenty of drivers just are not putting their full energy and attention into driving. It is no wonder cyclists get hit.

We really need to oppose building sidewalks because they reinforce the notion that bikes do not belong on the road. :p
