Make certain you really test out that CF Bike. Take it up a few hills- Down a few aswell and check it out on some rough broken bits at the side of the road. Then decide if it is for you.

There is a certain appeal, I won't deny that :D

I'm not too sure what sort of test opportunity I'll be afforded on Sunday.
As I've said elsewhere, this day is really for my wife; I'm just -literally- going along for the ride.
The test course will not offer up any great challenges but I'll do the best I can.
This might be more exploratory than anything else.

On top of the ride I'm considering for tomorrow, this will be a FUN weekend

What shop will you be test riding out of? People in the NorCal regional forum might give you some tips on a good course.

San Francisco Cyclery on Stanyan but, remember, this is just an incidental ride for me; Sunday is all about my wife and where she's comfortable going. Me? I'd have no trouble on my own putting a bike through its paces.

They're not bad riding bikes either.... very smooth. We borrowed Roubaix Comps last weekend, and this weekend I'm borrowing an Expert Triple (LBS owner made that choice, not me... I just requested a Roubaix in my size). I think it's down to one or the other and I am comparing the specs to determine how much the extra expense of the Expert would really buy me.

You know, I think you owe it to yourself to test ride as many bikes as possible. To date,m I've never regretted taking a bike for a test ride, and almost always learned something more about what I like, don't like, wnat, and/or need.

In fact, searching for a personal reward when accomplishing a goal, took me in this direction. I didn't want to reward myself with something that was bad for me (chocolate always seemed to be near the top of the list). So, I started taking a test ride on a high end bike when I wanted a reward. One local shop got so used to seeing me do this that they not routinely point out the high end bikes I haven't ridden yet and ask when I want to take them out for a spin.
