Saw this (http://delta7sports.com/products.html) today surfing. Bit pricey though. Wonder if they are going to make a road version.

Wow. Under 2.75 pounds, but definitely a different look.

That is bad to the bone.

Any idea on price?

Yeah - I know. If I have to ask, I probably can't afford it!

What a coincidence. Someone posted this at work today (more like a diy road bike version): http://www.bmeres.com/c-thruframe.htm

Wonder how robust these things are (e.g. how many rod failures it can sustain, rod connection failures, etc. before collapsing).

This (http://discovermagazine.com/2008/feb/06-see-through-bike)site says the frame alone is $6,995 and the bike is $11,995, yeah, I can't afford it either.

There is a road version, and it has a recent thread in the road forum. It's also 2.7 lb (without fork) which is not all that great for a road frame.

It's kind of silly. A medium Gary Fisher Superfly is both lighter and cheaper, and will be easier to clean since the tubes are not riddled with holes. It WILL get dirty, it's a mountain bike. I'm amazed you actually saw one of these frames. Where'd you see it?

It won't get dirty at all if you never ride it on dirt - or if you never ride it at all. Consider the target demographic.
