I'm not sure how they are going to expand the Dillon Res (it's about big as it can be) but I do remember what Summit County used to be like before they had an extensive bike path system. The whole area was a damned ghost town in the summer. The bike system up there actually gave them a summer revenue stream. Some people as just plain dumb!

The Old Dillon Reservoir and the Dillon Reservoir are two different things owned by different entities. The Old Dillon Reservoir is owned by the towns of Dillon and Silverthorne. The Dillon Reservoir is owned by Denver.

Yeah, it was dumb to contrast/compare bike path expansion monies with a future project to expand the Old Dillon Reservoir. It was also a very insensitive comment. Bob Guthrie was a significant driving force in the Lowry bike path expansion project. That's the path segment between Summit Cove and Swan Mountain road that just opened last summer. Bob Guthrie died last February 11th after hitting a tree while guiding a group of OHG skiers through the trees at A-Basin. Bob was a very well know member of our community. He started a Summit County cycling club that drew hundreds of riders every Monday morning. He was a staunch supporter of the bike path system in Summit and worked hard to maintain its great condition. Bob will be missed.

However, I support the idea of beefing up the size of the Old Dillon Reservoir. Getting into the water ownership game makes very good sense. This project is a particularily good investment when considering the complexity of water rights law and how they are applied to the Old Dillon Reservoir.

Water and bike paths are both a very, very good investment for our community.

I can't even begin to imagine where the Old Dillon Reservoir is. In the article it said between I-70 and Dillon Dam Rd. Where? Help me out, please.

Wow! Thanks, Telenick. How many times have I stayed in Summit, like it's my second home, and I never knew about this little gem. Now, I'm off to Google Earth to scout this out.
