Training & Nutrition - Rollers, Aluminum or PVC?

Will aluminum rollers last longer then PVC? Why the big price difference? Hows the ride quality on each?

Well, if you must go inside...I have no idea how long aluminum rollers last compared to PVC, or any idea about the price difference, but I do know about the ride quality. I personally like PVC because they give you more of the feel of the road. But, if you want very smooth ones, anyhow, aluminum is it.

I own one of the smoother PVC ones, Tacx. Foldable ones, of course. They're not as expensive as other brands, but perform very well.

*nod* I think i'll go for the cheaper PVC rollers for now. I just dont want them to die after a few thounsand miles this winter ;)

I am currently using Kreitler Challenger rollers with the fan unit. They are amazingly smooth. They are aluminum drums with PVC end caps. They are more expensive than other companies but if you do a search around you will find that just about everyone recommends the Kreitlers far and above anything else. They are guaranteed for life so if anything does go wrong then you do not have to worry and from what I hear nothing ever goes wrong with these rollers.

Thanks everyone! I ended up purchasing PVC rollers from bike nashbar. If i like rollers, i may upgrade to the kreitlers in a year or two.
