Hi hope all are great... Just wondering if anyone here had ever taken a set of handle bars and cut out the center part, the straight part and used it to make a seatpost ? would be different .... how safe would it be would it hold up to use... ?

thanks a ton for any and all help

I don't think the thickness of a handlebar is as thick as a seat tube. Plus, the diameter is different than most seat tubes.

I would suggest against this noble experiment.

Seatpost failure is not something to fool with. Think about what happens if it breaks.

Yes, seatpost failure can be catastrophic. Seeing as you may be willing to chop handlebars apart to make one, you can't be that picky. Go rip one off of an old huffy if you really need a seatpost, but be very careful!!
