Hey guys. I have a big problem. I'm almost finished building a 1972 Italvega Super Speciale up and am having a problem with the rear cable stop. This isn't my bike but it's the exact same model/year: http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/v/Kevin-Krugers-Bikes/ITALVEGA/ItalvegaOrig4.jpg.html

That's the best I could find to show what's going on. the braze-on there doesn't fit a cable ferrule or even the cable itself. Thats weird, because it seems to fit a cable in that pic but doesn't on mine! It's real round and seems to be more of a guide. What in the world should I do here? I really want to finish this thing. Thanks for the help.

You need a step down ferrule.

Dang it. Looks like I'll have to head to the lbs in the morning. Thanks a lot!

What if you were to try stripping the outer sheathing of the cable leaving just the spiral inner sheath. That way it may be small enough to fit into the braze on.
Try it on a scrap piece of cable to see if it will work.
Might save you a trip to the LBS.

Tried it. Looks like it's still too big. Good idea though, thanks!

Can you spread the braze on open a bit to make some room?

Forget the surgery and get a step-down ferrule as roadfix suggested.
