Because he's in Japan.

Anyway, to answer the OP's question, the front wheel looks like a Mavic Cosmic with a locking skewer. I don't think it's a Carbone, maybe someone else will know the exact type. The rear looks like a standard mid-section rim like an Aerohead. The hub is anyone's guess.

I think what you may be actually looking for is the fact that the wheels are just laced differently. What this means is that you could find a Mavic Cosmic and it would looking nothing like his front wheel. Find a rim you want and that have it radially laced and you will get what you are looking for. Just make sure you use a colored chain because the front wheel will collapse without its cosmic support.

why does he have a setback seatpost and then the seat moved all the way forward on it? kinda defeats the purpose doesnt it?

i'm not sure why this one more than others, but that picture is pissing me off so much. i think it's the sunglasses and mash decal. looks like a fun bike though.

The front is a Mavic Cosmic Expert circa 1997. No clue what the rear is.

Those Mavics were strong as hell, I had a set or about 6 years.
