Introductions - Signing on in NY State

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Greetings to all. Looking forward to sharing some good information and thought-provoking discusion with this group. Mostly a recreational road and mountain cyclist who can be talked into a race here and there, I like to work on my bikes in my "down time" at home. I'll be looking for some mechanical guidance from time to time!

Hi breezer1, what kind of bikes are you riding, then? And what part of New York?
Welcome to BF!

I'm in the capital region of NYS. I ride road and mountain and a bit around town. Road bikes are Tommasini Sintesi kitted with ultegra, and Litespeed Ultimate w/ D-A and SL's and I'm building up a Roubaix Pro for the long miles. Off-road I'm on an Ellsworth Truth and a Breezer Storm (when it's not pretending to be a commuter w/fenders).

Some nice bikes there! Have you had any problems with the Ellsworth?

You mean like it breaking? Yes. A couple years ago after riding it about 4 years, it cracked in the lower seat tube. I did get a lot of riding out of it before the break and I had a good warranty experience, so it wasn't that bad.

Overall though, I've been quite happy with the ride. It suits me well, and honestly I've been spending way more time on the road bike over the past few seasons.

I've heard a lot of stories about the Truth cracking--glad to hear that you did not have any unpleasant stories to share  .
Which of the road bikes do you spend most of your time on?

I'm mostly on the Litepeed, but that may change when I get the Roubaix built up. Really donlt ride the Sintesi much - it's nice looking bike and steel is...well, steel - but the fit was never quite right for me.

Too bad about the fit on the Sintesi--I love my steel bikes :D .
