On any given day most of us are most likely riding in jeans.

What kind of underwear has proven to you guys to be the most comfortable for riding?

Boxers work for me, but all my saddles have a space in the middle.

short rides around the city = cotton boxers.
sweaty long rides = bike shorts. just wear them under your regular clothes if you're staying inside the city.

Hate hate hate hate boxers. The ride up, and make it look like I have something to hide when I'm sans pants.

Tight boxer briefs are great for all activities including "lets get looking so good"

why is it sad? Comfort on a bike is a pretty reasonable thing to discuss.

Yeah, I don't wear any. It's not a problem with quality jeans, or most pants.

made the switch to boxer briefs a few years ago and haven't looked back.

boxer briefs always seem hot to me, boiling is not a sensation I enjoy in my pants.

Boxer briefs, or as mentioned before bike shorts under the jeans. It was murder finding boxer briefs that didnt have really long leg bits, but REI makes a spandex-y variety that are SUPER comfy, and american apparel boxer briefs are mad comfy, the gap also makes some stellar underoos.

briefs all the way! BB still ride up and boxers are just the worst. I've done 50milers on briefs just fine.

usually briefs. everything else bunches up around the thighs or gets too uncomfortable.

boxer briefs are the worst for me, there are fine for the first hour i wear them but after that they start to bunch up. so i wear boxer's but for the summer i am going to get some bike shorts for when its warmer out for the longer rides.

03-08-08, 03:23 PM
When it's warm, I like boxer briefs, but my favorite for comfort is Smartwool long underwear (https://www.smartwool.com/default.cfm#/Mens/Apparel/Bottoms/_/262/?title=Official%20Site:%20%20SmartWool%C2%AE%20feels%20good.%20%28%20Product:%20Men%27s%20Midweight% 20NTS%20Bottom%20%29). Long rides call for bike shorts, though.

My quads are so large (or my boxer briefs suck) that right after the wash and about 10 minutes of wearing, the boxer briefs stretch out and roll the f9ck up.

Briefs 100% for me.

nothing, confortable with denin jeans, I hate to wear underwear when its 20-25 celsius.

takes sometime to get use to it.

felldownthewell

Usually boxer briefs. Regular boxers ride up way too much to be comfortable.

Boxer briefs roll up my thighs too. For this reason, I would like to try regular briefs, but they look so ghey. Most women seem to like the boxer briefs.

if i'm going for a ride that matters (at least 20 miles), cycling shorts.
if i'm riding across town, the issue is kinda insignificant.

03-08-08, 05:46 PM
Briefs when I'm commuting, boxers when I'm riding in street clothes (Though they do tend to roll up over my quads, dam thighs getting bigger in the middle than at the ends), boxer briefs/briefs for riding in tighter jeans, and cycling shorts for group rides and races. Never commando, that can start to get mighty uncomfortable, unless you wear spray-on jeans.

i've got a couple pairs of underarmour compression shorts... they're pretty ill, they've got mesh where the junk is so it breathes. they're nice because you don't really feel like you've got anything on but they keep everything in place so there's no accidental ball sitting.

I hate when that happens. Boxers and baggies FTL.

I really ****ing hate shopping at big chain stores but the these Cotton/Lycra Cycle Briefs (http://www.target.com/Merona-Cotton-Lycra-Cycle-Briefs/dp/B000WXZFAU/qid=1205030531/ref=br_1_3/602-7351208-6475001?ie=UTF8&node=3516081&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1) are the most comfortable underwear I have ever touched. I talk about them all the time. Even taking them off for my lady-friend is difficult.

NitroPye

^ +1 On the Merona boxer briefs. Got a pair on right now. And yes difficult to want to take off except when the magic BJ word is said.

Fact did you have to quote the picture so I get to see it a second time?

Fact, bears, beats battlestar galactica.

Short, boxer-briefs or regular boxers. Normal commuting and everyday riding.

Long, Andiamos under jeans/dickies/shorts. Keep it padded and not look like youre too serious.

Really long, cycling bibs. If youre gonna be spending 3+ hours of your day cycling then f*ck style, its all about comfort.

I ride with boxer briefs if I'm doing less than 5 miles, bike shorts for anything more. I jog with briefs, but I go commando over briefs on a bike, the seams chafe even on short rides.

When I'm cruising I wear boxer briefs. If I am going farther I wear bike shorts under my regular shorts. If you have never worn bike shorts I suggest you try it sometime. More padding = more comfortable miles.

I just did an 80 mile ride up in the Lammermuir Hills east of Edinburgh. Halfway through I removed my cotton gonch and did the rest of the ride commando. I thought the underwear would be OK but it wasnt... it was really irritating the skin under my sit bones.

True. My sit bones wear holes into my briefs.
