Southern California - Murrieta Race Report

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

One reason that I'm trying the 35+ at LAX is to see this (another is the earlier start and I'm hoping not to break any wheels). I'm going to get a whuppin, but a good workout...
BTW, on your upgrade, check with SDSR to see if they can put you in the 4s -- when I did it, there were still open slots in the 4s, but now both have a waiting list.
i considered doing both, but i broke down and only registered for the 4's. didn't want to take a chance on getting two bad finishes:o

What's different about that. I've considered it, just never gotten around to it.
Compared to crits, cx is less about strategy, drafting, and the final sprint, and more about overall individual speed, endurance and bike handling. It's like time trialing with 40 other riders on the course... with dirt... and grass... and barriers. :p

I can't wait until there's races with actual team tactics and breaks are allowed to stay away. Takes the fun out of racing otherwise. i.e. Slow pace until last lap, crank it up and sprint finish.sorry you're gonna pretty much have to wait until your a masters racer if you want that to happen. you're winning/placing and yet you're still whining. it's the multiple attacks that fail that make the one that works work. you need the first five or six or seven attacks to make the last one work. when everyone is worn out from chasing all the other attacks and everyone just looks at each other with their mouths open and breathing hard and waiting to follow a wheel but not pull, that's when your break will work. you just gotta get the race to that point
congrats to vireo and merckx89(no spoilters!) for their great results as well. once they get into the 4's i'll be finishing a couple places lower every week:p
Psst.....I have been approved for a Cat IV upgrade.

Well that is the good news. That bad news is I had to withdraw from San Dimas Stage Race. IV's are full and waitlisted and I can't race V's or my license will be suspended.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but come up north and do Orosi & Hanford

You could come too... Although I admit its quite a drive compared to San Dimas almost in your backyard.

Not to mention my $100 non-refundable entry fee!

Hey- You got room for me in your car?
I hear there is climbing etc- which is good. But I dont know what kind of shape Ill be in. It looks like I'll be off the bike for at least a week.

Yeah I think so. I'm still not sure if Kim is coming. If not then you me and Bobby can drive down together, it would be a fun road trip. If she is coming, I don't know what Bobby's transportation situation is.

This is why I'm not going to upgrade until after San Dimas. I can't afford to eat that entry fee right now, and since it's non refundable and the 4's are full I get to stay as a 5.
