General Cycling Discussion - Any experience with Z-Bikes or Yeah! folders?

I'm looking for a folder to take with me when I travel... and it'll only get ridden when I'm out of state, so portability / storage size are quite important, andI don't want to spend too much. Z-Bikes are flat out the cheapest (and smallest) around (though I can't find much info on them!), and the Yeah! bikes appear very similar to some of the current Dahon designs, for significantly less money (they're manufactured byt a Chinese plant that also makes Dahons, and use licensed Dahon technology). http://www.yeahbikes.com

Anyone have any experience, good or bad, with either bike?

Thanks for the link! Unfortunately, A to B doesn't seem to have covered either of the bikes I'm most likely to justify financially... Might just be time to start saving again!

If you read A to B, then you better start saving up $1,000.00 dollars for a 3 speed Brompton because that's about the only bike they recommend. As for the two bikes, the Yeah bike seems a better buy because they are less expensive Dahons.

The Yeah bike is similar to Dahon's Boardwalk 6 but with cheaper components. The Boardwalk 6 is a solid bike but costs about twice what you would pay for a 20' inch wheel Yeah bike.

If you're really short on money, get the 20' inch Yeah bike and change the tires to Schwalbe Marathons as this would improve the ride. Furthermore, see if you can get a Brooks saddle with springs.

When I was working in London a few weeks back I chatted to a couple of commuters who were using Phillips folders and seemed very happy with them they're fairly cheap 20" folders.

The other cheap option is to to do what I'm doing and pick up an old folding Raleigh Twenty in reasonable condition to do up. Sheldon's site has some good information on them. Late on this forum has done up a non-folding version. There are some badly made Raleigh Twenty clones that I'd avoid.

The Phillips folder is actually a rebadge Dahon. They're not bad and are good all around town bikes.

Thanks! Can anyone recommend a source for the Schwalbe tires? I'm going to look at a used Dahon this week, and if that doesn't work out, am probably going to go with the Yeah...
