Greg and I rode this ride this past Saturday. It was a very well organized ride, started right at 8:00 AM, and they had everything marked off (where to start, where to pick up packets, and where to register if you hadn't) really well.
The route was nice, it kept you turning in the early portions so you were never in the wind do much, but some of those climbs were pretty long, including this one climb that had multiple segments and left my legs feeling like rubber. The staff was awesome, Greg had a flat tire and we had one fire truck, one ambulance, two police cars, and three sag trucks all stop and ask us if we were ok.
The only bad thing, the turn for the 70 mile route wasn't marked very well. They should have had someone there to tell us to turn. Instead most of us just kept on riding and during the flat we realized that we were on the 52 mile route. That sucked, neither one of us felt like riding back to do the rest of the route either.
Also, their signs were very accurate. If they said you had one mile to a rest stop, you really did have a mile. The signs also told us how far to the next one. So the distance from rest stop three to four is 17 miles, which made us take a bit longer to restock before heading out.
All around, great ride...just really cold.
