I was just thinking about what I could get with my portion of the Tax Rebates and this came to mind.
A little scooter would be fun for some motor-pacing eh?

Scooters are fun. :D
Plus they are very economical for gas mileage, and also good for errands.

Here's me riding an old borrowed one down in San Diego a couple of years ago.

I maxed it out at 40 mph on the shoulder of the freeway, then it overheated and stalled. :p

Hell yea, motorpacing would be fun. Gonna take it up and down Canada?

I've actually seen this on Canada once. The scooter had spare wheels on the back while the guy following him was cruising on a time trial bike. But I'd rather buy another bike.

On a more serious note what is the point of motor-pacing? For practicing sprinting I kind of understand, but just following the scooter....

Oh man, an Elite? Those things are sooo 80s ugly. At least get yourself a nice vintage Vespa or something. :D

As far as modern, I kind of like the Honda Ruckus:

...but, being powered by a 50cc, 4-stroke, 1-cylinder engine, it's not going to get you anywhere fast. I'll probably skip the scooter and go straight for the motorcycle.

Its suppose to make you ride faster. Here's a URL which explains it.

That's one of the more expensive ones. I'm trying to find one for < 1K, but it still has to hit 40mph for you hammer heads :D. Most of them get ~80mpg too.

Saw two guys pacing behind a scooter this morning on Canada.

Sheesh, it took them nearly 6 months to get it together. ;)

Wouldn't that be illegal and very dangerous? In any case, I would not recommend a $1000 scooter to anyone. Go with a solid used Japanese scooter. I had a Vespa for a year that I just sold- they are cool as well, but a bit spendy.

Meh.

As long as I have the Marco and Ruth tandem, I don't need no stinkin' scooter :p

I was thinking a used Honda Elite 150 but the Tax Rebate has been spent/saved in other ways already. :( Maybe I can trade a road bike for one :roflmao2:

Hermes and I have been doing motorpacing workouts on Canada with our coach - great speed workouts and TT prep.

Schweet! Jealous.

It just occurred to me, if I had a scooter, I couldn't motorpace myself! Someone else buy a scooter, quick :thumb:
