View Full Version : Now what do I do with them?

I had built four sculptures for display at the shop, but due to a fire at the shop.... Well to make a long story short, there is no shop now :(

So I had to bring the pieces home, and they are sitting in my backyard right now. There not little pieces, the smallest is six feet tall and well over four hundred pounds. The largest is about nine feet tall and maybe five hundred pounds. All four of them together are two thousand, three hundred pounds. Took me a little over two years to build them so I don't want to just scrap them. And I'm not sure I want them in the yard forever. Maybe I'll plant Morning Glories on them.

I'm looking for ideas on what I can do with them.

The four riders of the Apocalypse… From left to right, The White Rider is the False Profit, The Gray Rider is Pestilence (someone repainted him purple???) The Red Rider is War and The black Rider is Death…

They look great!

Have you considered contacting your local city government to see if they'd be interested in purchasing them? Or, sometimes here in Chicago, local artists rent out their artwork to the different businesses so the businesses can display them. They usually move around from building to building from month to month.

If I can think of anything else, I'll drop you a PM.

I love them!
I helped move an artist friend last month and he had the same problem, so two of his young friends did some “gorilla installations” around our local art gallery. They stayed in situe for about a week. The art gallery installation techs must have been confused when they removed them, as they were part of an earlier exhibit!

Here's something else to consider:

Drop our mayor a letter with the pictures and see if he'd be willing to buy it on behalf of the city. Mayor Daley says he is a bike friendly mayor, and he acts like a bike freak, so I know if he is really into cycling, he'll consider purchasing it for the city. Navy Pier has a lot of the art sculputers, and with the Pier right next to the Bike path, it would be perfect! He could roll out the new sculptures for the start of Bike to Work month, then move it to Navy Pier.

Here's his email:

MayorDaley@cityofchicago.org

Address it to Mayor Jim Daley.

Actually Eboo has that title. While not working the kitchen at Bigfeet Eboo's House of Explody Crabs she can be found beneath the waves unearthing sunken Nazi relics.

I'm sorry, I am stuck at the the first five words of that title. :D Imagine an Explody Crab. :D Now for the rest of the title - she is truly amazing. I bow to Eboo.

Can you not just look in the database for the very first Foo thread and un-archive it and bump it?
