is chain stretch less of an issue on a fixed bike? i dont mean tension of coarse. just the life of the chain.

Definitely ... It's probably going to be even more of an issue since your going to be pulling your chain in both directions (foward to move, backwards to slow/brake). You're best bet is to go with a thick bmx type chain.

i really wish KMC still made the 410H chain. it was really the best one around.

sure, they have the 415 K chain, or whatever that one-sided one is called, and a heavier duty version, the 915, but dammit! i liked the 410H.

i use an izumi track chain. it has stretched 1/16". if this was my road chain it would be about time for a new one, but my local mech said it was fine on a fixie. there is some drivetrain noise that i thought might be caused be the chain elongation but i dont know since the bike is new to me and it could simply be the sound of the links pivoting. do other people have noise coming from their drivetrain or could you sneak up on a cat?

ps- my chainline is perfect so its not that.
