"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Recover recover recover

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Last year I raced 6 or 7 times total. In the past three weeks, I raced 6 times (hard racing too). I never sat in and waited. I tried to make things work attacking, bridging, sprinting, elbowing, shoving, cussing, hurting, puking, etc. This morning I woke up feeling like I was in a drunken bar fight. Next weekend my team is putting on a race - I didn't realize this until later. So, let's see if this worn down, beat up, old man can keep it on the downlow a bit until Saturday. If I do well at this race it puts our name out there, gives our sponsors some recognition, and gets me that much closer to cat 3. After this race papa needs a break. And a testosterone shot. ;)

Do REAL recovery work, not the pretend recovery that some guys do. Days off the bike ... EASY spin ride... massage

Do what Pcad would do, a nice, easy tempo 80 mile recovery ride with lots of climbing.
Actually, that's what I did last year. Two solid weeks on the bike, two races, no days off, today I am doing:
N O T H I N G
Maybe a trip to the gym for light weights (no legs) and ab work tonight. That is all.

A nice looking upper body does not fit with the Pcad Cycling Zen does it? ;)

In 2006 and 2007 I race something like 30-50 times over each road season. Too much gas money, stress and not enough recovery time.
This year I'm thinking 15...
