Ok, I postponed my DC trip until Monday since it sounded like a bunch of you were coming up from Florida. Merlin/Kensuf, you guys still coming? Anyone else?

I'll be there for the circuit/road race, but am skipping the tt.

Just curious, are you female? or are you male and boycotting?

Road race. BTW one of the ladies from our women's team is doing the omnium with the masters.

You do know, ss-jimbo, that the female members of the GC board voted for lower race entry fees at the expense of payouts? Did you also know that while GC relented and added W123 and W4 categories to the Albany schedule, only 7 showed up for the 4's and 11 for the 123 ? Does that seem like a good way to represent that GC's previous decisions were in error?

Kinda sucks that they did that, but you have to run races financially responsible so that there will be one next year. At least they didn't cut them all out. This way there are still women's races, hopefully to begin to build a similar base of women racers. Once it becomes profitable/self-sustaining, you will see more women's races and women's races with payouts.

Don't get me wrong, I like women racers.

I just wanted to say that while I'm sorry to see people boycotting because of the womens races thing, I, for one, am glad that I'll have an opportunity to race for more than just the Columbia County sign this upcoming weekend.

Yeah, it's a rest day and I've had a beer. Damn, 1 beer, light headed, weird.

I went to GC-Albany last year with two women who came home with over $300 between them. Do you think they wanted to have reduced entry fees? That may appeal to a beginner, but it doesn't appeal to a 1-3 woman racer.

As to the argument that there weren't many women who showed up, either you support women's racing or you don't. Doing it as an afterthought after much complaining, isn't going to win you much support. If the fields are small combine them. As to making money, what does it cost the promoter to combine the women with another field and score them separately? Look at the Webster Roubaix this coming weekend. It has both a 1-3 and a 4 women's field. They will be racing with men's fields, but at least they will be scored against other women.

Show me another race that leaves women's fields out completely? Are there any? I've NEVER seen one that wasn't an elite only race (US Pro, etc), so to leave the women's fields out entirely is really inexcusable.
