some of you have already been out on the road numerous times and some of us have not (meaning me).

if you have not, this week looks to bring some warmer temps. will you get out for that first road ride of the 2008 season.

it could be a toughie for me. the bike is in the shop. the psimet shop. the wife is headed out of town mid week for several days. this leaves me solo on the front line of parenting. and i have to work for a living.

i really want, no need, to get out on the road again.

later.

Ditto here. I have a major case of cabin fever and the trainer/spinning aren't working for me anymore ;) Wednesday looks to be the best day so skipping out of work early is definitely in order. The only possible caveat being winds keeping the lakefront down in the mid 30's :( Hurry up spring!

All that's left is chain, cables/housings, and tape. Everything else is primo. Got a new ultrasonic cleaner. Holy poop that saved a lot of time.

I rode 8 miles this morning. 4 miles until I hit the ice pack on the commute and decided I had to turn around. :(

I will ride this week sometime though.

Yes.

Tuesday and Wednesday look like good candidates for lunchtime jaunts.

Funny, my coworker just caught me daydreaming while I was starring outside the office window, looking at the snow falling and dreaming of better weather.
I could only answer, that watching this snow falling has a tranquilizing effect on my mind and I just can't stand it anymore.

Got a new ultrasonic cleaner.
Psimet,
What's that? After spending 2 hours Saturday cleaning my winter commuter, I'd be happy to save some time if possible

Commutting here. 45 minutes in the morning and 45 in the evening. Didn't get much of that during the winter, so it's good to be back in the saddle again.

Nuh uh ... ski baby! Ski it until it's mud. Plenty of time to ride after that.

I still can't see my street yet through the snow. Looks like I will be indoors most of this week.

Big enough to dump in a cassette or brake calipers, derail, etc. Not big enough for cranks or chainrings though :(

5 minutes in the bath then a quick wipedown. The biggest benefit will be for periodic maintenance of chains. I just use some Simple Green. I don't soak the stuff though because of something I saw about Simple Green and chain failures a few years back on VeloNews.

$79,99:eek:
I just realized that I have a 20-year old chain cleaner that is held together by tape. That looks like a very good option right now :D

I saw some people snowmobiling today on my ride. I got a chuckle out of it.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED, I say, that someone would sneak out of work early;)...I'm tossing the bike in the car tonight in case it's nice enough to squeeze one in tomorrow as well as Wed.:D

I've not been on the road since December (but the trainer has seen plenty of action). Tomorrow: a high of 45, then three days of mid-50s. I'll take my chances with the rain, it's the ginormous potholes that are worrying me. Those and the three inches of sand all over the road.

I can't wait to get out of the house.

Hmmm...maybe a short day one day this week is indeed in order. Maybe a coordinated attack along the Randall corridor during lunch. Maybe a long lunch. I get aham his rig ....he meets me for lunch....we ride....hmmm....

We're getting on the road again in Madison, Wisconsin.

To those of you in range of Madison: on Saturday 3/15 we are celebrating my birthday and the start of the road season with a 20 mile rural road ride and coffee break. Want to join us? Details here (http://www.madisonbiking.com/viewtopic.php?id=176).

Used to use ultrasonic cleaners when I was in college working in a ultra-high vacuum lab. They work great, especially the heated ones.

We used carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) in ours :)
