Sorry, I must have missed it. I was trying to read the newspaper and BF at the same time. When you get older multi-tasking gets harder.

It's front page news up here. They had a memorial ride in Golden Gate Park that I just couldn't make. It has really shook up the cycling community up here. What hurts most is how promising career they might have had, and the fact that this all happened on my birthday. :(

What?
I'm sure they would have preferred to die on any another day if they had a choice.

I'm almost positive that what hurt most was getting hit by a car and the pain their families must be going through, but hey, I'm really sorry it ruined your b-day.
Ron, I haven't had time to follow the investigation. Have they figures out what happened yet? Was the deputy at fault? It was a terrible accident and must be horrible for the families. Even the deputy that was driving, think about what is going on in his head.

Dante,
It looks like the deputy feel asleep at the wheel (at least that is what he admitted to someone at the scene). It probably wasn't a smart decision on his part, but when you are so stressed because of something like this, your head is not on straight. I'd hate to be in his shoes at this point.
Looking at the road, there are no skid marks following the car to where it landed. It's tough on all cyclists in the bay area, especially those that knew Matt and Kristy, and I haven't been back to that same road yet. I'll probably pass by there next week.
