i went to a bike store today and the bike person suggested a redline hybrid for 300 bucks
she said she got it on closeout and it was listed at 400 retail
does anyone know about redline hybrid bikes? i would be interested to know if it is a good buy at 300 as that is all i can spend on a bike. it has shocks. are these trouble free devices ?
i know racing bikes don't have shocks so i am suspicious if they are an asset to bike performance.

Redline no! As a kid we idolized the redline bmx bikes. kind of sad to hear they are doing a hybrid, not to sound elitist, but it was a brand every kid in our neighborhood idolized. Kind of like schwinn selling out to walmart. Anyway, don't know if they make good hybrids or not. Just thought I would add a pointless tangent to this fresh post. They probably don't even make good BMX bikes anymore.

Their cyclocross frames have a good reputation.

Redline appears to be a decent bike. I know they built their rep on BMX and still produce some serious machines. I have a 2006 Redline 9.2.5 (http://www.redlinebicycles.com/adultbikes/925.html) and am very happy with it.

Redline makes great bikes and has some bestselling models. Their mountain bike single speeds are very popular, same with their cross bikes. Solid bikes and good values.

I race a Redline in CC, and it is a great bike.

I guess I will be the odd person out here. I don't own a redline but in the last 2 years I have seen the aftermath of about 5 frame failures. Most all have been welds going at the seat stays. All have been cross bikes.
