Our local "law enforcement" in action. :rolleyes: Simply makes me sick, nobody gives a flying f*** about impared driving until some todler is killed, then people get outraged for a day.... then go back to their old ways.

It depends. If charged under s. 252(1) of the criminal code (fail to remain at scene of an accident), an accused can be found guilty one of two ways - summarily or convicted by indictable offence. If convicted of an indictable offence, the maximum penalty is imprisonment up to but not exceeding 5 years. If convicted summarily, the punishment involves a fine and/or imprisonment up to but not exceeding 6 months.
If convicted summarily, most likely the charge was reduced to a provincial statute.

As a cop, he is in a position of public authority, setting a public example for others to follow.
Treat the SOB like a pedophile priest, prosecute him to the full extent of the law, with much fanfare & pubilicity.
