Bicycle Mechanics - Need tips on cold setting and converting 8mm dropout to 10mm

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have a few bikes that all have 110x8mm drop outs while all of my wheels are 120x10mm along with a disc wheel that's on it's way. I'm trying to figure out if I really need to get new hubs for all my wheels or if I can just get new axles or do something else. I'm planning on cold setting the frames but I've never done it before and haven't been able to find a shop that would do it and don't know of any frame builders where I live(Chandler, AZ). So if anyone has any tips on how I could solve these problems and finally get all my parts on the bike and start riding I'd definitely appreciate it.

EDIT

I ended up finding some posts by 11.4 after searching on google and found out everything to do about the 8mm axle. I could still use any tips on cold setting or if anyone knows of a frame builder in the area.

Thanks,
Orson

You could get axle kits for the wheelsets, and get the 8mm.
I had the same exactly problem, I just filed my dropouts --took long long time but worked. The filing made the cold setting park look easy as crap

Good luck.

ww.sheldonbrown.com has info on cold setting using a chair and longish piece of 2 x 4 plank. Do the google seach on the page for cold setting. I think there is a picture or two there to illustrate.

You'll likely also need some string and a rule. And we are assuming these are steel frames.
