I have acquired what I believe to be a 2004 Trek 6000 ATB, light grey color, with red Manitou shocks. The seat post and post clamp are missing. I have not been able to find any web site on the internet where I could find the specs for this bike so I can purchase the correct seat post. Any ideas, please ? There must be some web page with a picture of the bike and all specs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Email trek's customer support.

Bikepedia ( http://www.bikepedia.com/Default.aspx ) does not show this bike as you list it. I would never rely on web information for something like this. A good bike shop can size it for you.
My trek 3900 is a 31.6, along with my buds 4300.
I don't think the seat tubes change between the hardtail models. But I could be wrong.

measure it! get a rule with mm's on it, measure the interior diameter. Your choices are 27.2, 31.6, 34.1

In the meantime, I have discovered that it must be a model year 2000 Trek 6000. Yes, I can measure things. However, since seat post sizes come in .2 mm size increments, it is not that easy to make sure that I am getting the exact size that I need. I want to ensure that I purchase the correct seat post size first thing, rather than try it, scratch it up , and attempt to return it. Thanks to everyone for their help.

What is the outside diameter of the seat tube? It's an AL frame, right?
WHat type of seatpost you getting?

I am looking for a basic replacement seat post like what came on the bike. A basic Taiwan type alloy post with the hardware and a 6 mm bolt that adjust horiz. and vert. It is an aluminum frame. I am getting the impression that it must be a 31.6mm post.

I'd guess it to be a 27.2 post, then...
