I've searched for this but no one really lists specific parts or anything. Im looking to make a DIY repair stand because I dont feel like paying ridiculous amounts of money on a nice stand when I can make one for cheap. Anybody got any help?

google "double super clamp" from manfrotto photo equip. that might do the trick if you already have a vertical pole-something. it might not be cheap though-$80ish.

maybe look into a c clamp, or those sliding clamp deals that have the trigger handle release. Seems like those could be used to make a DIY repair stand. I've always just flipped bikes over or wedged em between couch cusions when I needed to work on em.

Just pony up $75 bucks for the park bench mount stand and screw it to the kitchen counter. It's well worth it and your domestic companion(s) won't mind.

or you could look into rope and some hooks for your ceiling.

I have seen framebuilders in Japan who use a 'clamp' that looks like a quill stem, but the stem goes into your frames seat tube, instead of headset.

not necessarily, i need the clamp that clamps onto the bike or seatpost to hold the bike, and i'd like to be able to swivel it and such. Looking to do this on the cheap, spending lots of money would defeat the purpose of diy cause I could just buy a prebuilt one.

look around at instructables.com

I believe they have a DIY bike stand write up, along with a good few other DIY bike stuff!
In fact that's where i'm heading to now!

This is what I use:

Just cut out some wooden pieces to clamp the frame. I have a piece of plywood for the base and I use threaded pipe for the stand itself. I've been using it for 3 years or so now. Cost of materials was about $30 all told. Can't swivel it though. However, I've never really needed to for basic maintenance.
