Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'll be in the bay area that weekend with my bike, so I decided to do it on spur of the moment. Last time I did Cat5 circuit race, and it was pretty fun. This time I'll be in Cat4, will see if they are as sketchy as the 5 field.

Look for a dude on Blue/white Ridley Orion with matching bartape and tires, in UCI (UC Irvine) or NorCal BF jersey. Thats how the bike came, I am not that OC.

I'm going to race both days over there (as Cat5).

I'll be there both days for 4 races. Last year I only did the 35+ but I really like the courses so I'll try my luck in the P/1/2's too.

Hermes and I went on Dmitriy’s training ride (~50-55 miles) this morning which included laps on the Brisbane circuit course to prepare several in the group who are doing the race. We rode from San Mateo to Brisbane as a warm up. I did 10 laps on the circuit course. You should have a blast!! (I'm tempted . . . .) I noticed that there was only one category for women (Cat 4 elite) – interesting (??)

In cycling, the term "elite" simply means all ages, as opposed to "masters" or "juniors".
So any women beginners can race in the "elite" 4 race. ;)

Good! That works for me. C'mon, V-Diva, sign up and ride with us! You already have an advantage, having ridden it already. Oh, and training for 4 months...you'll probably kick our fannies, but what the heck. It should be fun regardless.

That much I know - I just thought it was interesting that there is no category available for the Cat 1/2/3 women in this circuit race.

I am a maybe - this circuit race was not in "the plan." One big plus is that it is closeby - but looks like rain on Sunday.:(

Rain, schmain. This race wasn't in my plan, either, but then our plan isn't nearly as structured as yours. Proximity is a plus. Sign up and check it out!

Race promoters are faced with limited options of categories because there are only so many hours in the day. Tom Simpson (Ronde race promoter) chose to provide the CAT4 women with a race of their own for one day's race and the CAT3 women with a race of their own for the other day's race.

There are very few CAT1 or CAT2 women in the district, and I assume most (if not all) of them will be racing the NRC San Dimas Stage Race this weekend.

The two Velo Promo races (also this weekend) offer options for all categories of women.

Looks like the rain is "scheduled" for after the race. at least let's hope so.

Thanks, Lorri, for the insight. I think it is cool that the CAT4 women have a race of their own for the circuit.

Just curious is there a good route that I can take after the crit for a cool down ride?

Thanks.
