A friend gave me a Tiagra rear wheel hub for maintainance.
It had been used for cross country. Since he used to clean the bike with lots of soap and water it had infiltrated the bearings. Gunk (water + mud) had replaced the grease over the years. The cones, the balls and the cups were severely pitted.
Obviously, I can replace the balls and cones (or regrind the cones). But I guess replacing the cups is not an option, so this hub is scrap. Unless something can be done about these cups?
