is no more.

i thought it was odd that the Joliet Bicycle Club had not updated their site for this ride. normally, it's the first weekend of May. last year was most epic due to extreme wind. the ride has been a favorite of mine, since she was my first.

anyway, here is the email i received from Brenda at JBC:

"You are correct, it is not happening. We are focusing our efforts on our July 4th ride. We (at least some of the club members) hope to bring the Sudden Century back next year. Emails such as yours will help."

i like the July 4th ride they put on, but there aint much to it. its flat. its fast. its 62 miles. you ride from Plainfied to Morris and back. not much to focus on in my mind.

later.

Bummer, I was hoping to do that ride also.

I relied upon the Sudden as the first real century of the year. maybe we'll have to organize our own - less formal than the Spring or Psimet invitationals, but maybe in windy Plainfield. I wonder who could organize that one.....

I'm out of town that weekend, anyway. I think the organizers could sense that I would not be able to attend and summarily cancelled the whole deal.

Smart people.

I'll be at the BFNIC Spring Classic.

I'll be at the HHH, though as a volunteer.

RAIN? Nope. I'm going to give the Baraboo hilly century a go that day.

The DLD? Not so much, as I'm tentatively going to ride portions of this route (http://www.dahlonega.org/images/stories/PDF/6gapmap2007.pdf) if I can get the logistics worked out.

The plainfield-morris backroads are pretty-much my daily riding area. I'm planning on riding the 4th of july ride this year (was out of town last year) since it starts right down the street from me. With the no-whereness SW of plainfield, you could put together ample routes for an informal 100.

we have likely crossed paths once or twice. i ride more west then south west. i hit oswego, yorkville, plano, silver springs state park, newark, millington and so on. the roads are pretty darn flat, but once you got over by the fox river you can find a roller or two. later.
